By getting rid of the top few layers of your skin, these treatments will make you more prone to getting burned— leaving you with more freckles and sun damage than you began with. Rather than scheduling your peel or microdermabrasion right before a vacation or a beach day, schedule it for a time of summer where you’ll be spending more time inside.
If you are going to be spending time out in the sun, try to stay as shielded as possible. Whether that means wearing a large brimmed hat or camping out under an umbrella all day, the more shaded you are, the less likely you will be to develop freckles.
